Abstract
The Monastery of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, in Ponta Delgada, was founded in 1541. Its architecture and its heritage mirror the spirituality of the feminine religious community that lived there in cloister. The bust of Senhor Santo Cristo is an identity mark of the Azorean people. Only in the 18th century, through the personal devotion and the commitment of the religious Teresa da Anunciada, the Image achieved a public cult that reached all social groups. The aim of this article is to present a proposal of guidelines for the contents of the musealization and the museography of some parts of the sanctuary that may tell its story from its beginning to the present day, always bearing in mind the indelible cult to the image of Senhor Santo Cristo. The musealization of this monastic space, with its historical turns and its value to society, would be an opportunity to put this important patrimony in touch with society.
