Abstract

The role of theology in the academic context, especially considering its relation to the human sciences and to the religious studies, requires a reflection on theology’s own voice and proper way to collaborate in the production of qualified knowledge in the set of contemporary scientific knowledge understanding since the merge of a public rationality in the 19th century. In an interdisciplinary perspective, the theological function to explicit how a certain theological model or discourse work may be comprehended as effective contribution to other theoretical fields that are occupied with the same phenomenon. Through a bibliographical analysis, David Tracy’s thought is read in order to help thinking possible criteria for the analysis of particular theological traditions. So, concerning the task of a correlational method between critical interpretations of theological traditions and contemporary situation, the text highlights the care for making explicit their plausibility structures, agents, and objects.
