Abstract

This study the analysis of education as an individual investment. Economic studies on the subject gave rise to the theory of human capital, in which education is considered an investment. Therefore, an individual with higher schooling and qualification may be more productive and have greater economic and financial benefits. The general purpose of this research was to identify and analyze the impact of vocational education at the technical level offered by the Federal Institute of Brasília (IFB) on the probability of students’ later integration in to the working world and on the income of those who graduated between 2016 and 2017 in Biomedical Equipment Technician and Work Safety Technician. For the study, a questionnaire was applied among the graduates of these courses. It was answered by 52.38% of the chosen group. The parameters for the econometric model were estimated by the probit regression. The results indicate that acting in the technical training area increases the probability of obtaining greater economic and financial gains.
