Abstract

Introduction: Death is a natural event, which forces the human being to confront himself during his life. This is a literature review of the descriptive type. Data were obtained through the b-ON and SCIELO databases. Results: The human being has difficulties in accepting his own death because it implies accepting the finitude of life. Denial of death is common because denying allows one to discard the thought of it. Discussion: Death causes many feelings in professionals and students around health sciences such as impotence, frustration, anguish that become more intense when it is unexpected or pediatric age. Conclusion: Death causes discomfort to the human being, since it emphasizes impotence towards terminality and/or finitude because it cannot avoid it.
