The theme of this master's thesis concerns working hours and aims to analyze the working hours regime and its unilateral change, through the study of the decentralization of the employer's power in fixing and / or changing working hours, so that it is not exercised without considering certain limits. In terms of working hours, a literal reading of the labour code regulations leads the reader to conclude that the employer is given a list of options capable of directly shaping the worker's life. Therefore, this dissertation will take into account not only the postulate in the labour law, but also, in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, in the jurisprudence and in the doctrine to analyze and concretize these matters, namely, what are the working hours and when they can be changed and under what circumstances. Through the analysis of the researched information, it is possible to conclude that the worker is given a broader protection when fixing and changing working hours, mainly, but not exclusively, through the rules stipulated in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic.
