Abstract
The work focuses on the characterization of the modern architecture project of the church of Águas, in the municipality of Penamacor, by the architect Nuno Teotónio Pereira and its insertion in the new MRAR program (Movement for the Renewal of Religious Art). To identify in the modern architecture of the church elements of convergence with the new theological and liturgical identity that emerged from the impulse of the Second Vatican Council. Identifying in the church the sacramental value in architecture, when the altar surrounds the assembly and the liturgy, reveals itself in the true expression of community of faith and prayer. Through the quality of the liturgy celebrated in the building, the ecclesial community experiences and transforms itself into a fraternityof evangelical life.
