Communication is the means by which the coach speaks to the team and it should be trained to be objective and clear. Some coaches primarily focus on technical matters, minimizing the skills inherent to human communication, which can affect the functioning of the coach-athlete dyad, crucial for sports performance. An important competition can generate anxiety and tension, making self-regulation of emotions more difficult. Therefore, it becomes essential to study communication in competition and how it changes according to the outcome. It is important for coaches, as leaders of a sports team, to be aware of the factors that influence their actions, contributing to the team's effectiveness, particularly the game's outcome. Thus, this study characterised the communication behaviours of a coach, from a roller hockey team competing in the 3rd national division and analysed the frequency of these communication behaviours according to the game's result. The methodology used was a case study. The coach's overall communication profile is predominantly positive, as these are the prevailing communication behaviors. The outcome appears to influence how the coach talks, based on the amount of communication delivered.
