Abstract
Currently, we are witnessing a significant decline in the Life of Faith, namelyregarding catechesis. Year after year, children attending catechetical activities in Catholic communities have been decreasing. At the same time, children report being tired and full of catechesis ending up, according to some testimonies, exchanging it for activities they consider more relevant. Throughout this dissertation it is intended to explore which are the attitudes to adopt and which are the necessary behaviour changes towards today's children, to make it possible, in the near future, to have young people involved and committed in the life of our communities. To achieve the aforementioned, a very concrete
pedagogical example, proposed by Father Américo Monteiro de Aguiar, founder of "Obra da Rua", will be used. With this dissertation it is intended to present a new path of reflection regarding catechesis including its dynamics and the challenges faced for improving and growing young people and faith communities.
