In the school context we can think of dance as preferred mechanism to encourage students to meet expressive ways of thinking, perceiving and understanding. The interdisciplinary character of dance is observable in several curricular areas such as music, math, geometry, geography and even architecture. Curricular management is presented as a mechanism to adapt/ articulate the formal national curriculum to students and their aims, becoming a fundamental key in the appropriation of the school educational project. When addressing an alternative/ different way of teaching, it is relevant that the national curriculum undergoes some changes, through the class curricular project, to meet the student’s ultimate goal. The first chapter of this study was devoted to the School Education Project, developing the themes of the legal frame work and structure of the document. The second chapter delves Artistic Education. The main issues of its historical evolution, morphology, and the contributions of dance artistic education to holist education. The third chapter of this study characterized and contextualized the object in study, the arts school: Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional (EDCN), Escola de Dança Ana Mangericão (EDAM) and Academia de Dança de Setubal (ADCS). On the fourth chapter of theoretical part the issue of the curricular management was described. Here the main highlight was class leadership and curricular management in the classroom context, because it is at this particular level that the performance of the school class director reveals its importance. The second part of this study, the empirical part, was divided in to three specific chapters: methodology, presentation and data discussion and conclusions. This way we could establish how the artistic education components integrate the regular school curriculum ate the organizational level, in the practices of teachers, and in preparation and monitoring the process of articulation between the two types of education.
