This report is a description, analysis and critical reflection on the experiences and activities held throughout the internship regarding the acquisition of skills inherent to the title of Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing. The intership included three different modules including the emergency room, intensive care unit and the operating room. The internship module in the emergency room allowed the acquisition and development of skills related to the provision of specialized nursing care to people in critical situation in context of triage, resuscitation room and observation room. It was also possible to develop communication skills with the person in critical condition and family by performing a Service Standard Protocol for the transmission of bad news and a Poster about the Buckman Protocol (1992). The training module in the Special Surgery intensive care unit allowed me to obtain and develop skills in the provision and management of care to the person in critical condition in the surgical context and in the field of transmission of bad news to the family, having been held a training session on this same theme. With the completion of the internship module in the operating room became possible to deepen Specialist Nurse skills through the provision of care as circulating nurse and nurse anesthetist, and through the elaboration of a Manual on Integration of Nurses in the operating room. I consider to have reached the objectives proposed, which allowed me to zoom in areas such as decision-making, favoring thus the continuity of care, the acquisition of autonomy in work performance, personal and professional development, but above all to improve the quality of nursing care provided
