Abstract

This paper studies the importance of Compliance for the competitiveness of companies, through a case study of BNP Paribas Factor SA - Sucursal em Portugal. In order to contextualize the object of study of this dissertation, we begin by clarifying one of the concepts linked to Compliance, corruption, through an index of the perception of corruption in the world and in Portugal. After the theoretical and organizational framework, we move on to the presentation and discussion of the results, with an analysis of the interviews carried out. These showed that there is a positive relationship between Compliance and a company's competitiveness, mostly in line with the literature. However, companies must be aware of the constant promotion of a culture of Compliance, as well as the risks and impact of not having Compliance. Following the theoretical framework, the organizational framework and the interviews carried out, it was found that Compliance has been increasingly in demand in the face of growing business complexity. This business management tool leads to a culture of Compliance where there is safety and efficiency in the processes carried out. This is where the relevance of Compliance and the competitive advantage it can offer a company stand out.
