The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) has been in force on the international scene for many years. However, there are still doubts regarding its practical application. With the recent approval of the CISG text, the Portuguese legal community has been preparing to apply it, mostly with a view to studying the international experience with the adoption of the CISG, as well as the similarities and differences between the norms of the Convention and those of domestic law, with regard to the purchase and sale contract. In this sense, this study aims to address the main issues related to the resolution of the contract, comparing the CISG regime with the norms of internal Portuguese law and with those of Brazilian law.
