This thesis aims to analyse the sustainability of the China-CEEC Cooperation, one decade after its creation. By sustainability, I only mean that the participating States felt enough benefits to take part in China-CEEC Cooperation activities. In 2012, the picture painted was an optimist icone. Sixteen European countries signed agreements with China to participate in a cooperation format that would allow them to get investment for much needed infrastructure. However, ten years later, not much has changed in that picture. Which does not seem enough to stimulate the sustainability of this cooperation. The China-CEEC Cooperation is an economic, commercial and cultural cooperation format between China and a set of countries from Central and Eastern Europe, initiated by China, with the goal of deepening the ties between the participating countries and invest in infrastructure in this European region, which was inserted in the One Belt One Road after its own officialization. Several fears emerged after the mechanism was announced, especially within the European Union. There were doubts about China’s intentions: could it be a strategy to divide Europe, or to gain leverage over the States they would invest? Some of those fears came true, and in certain occasions, some Member States blocked European initiatives to censor China. However, the investment that was made during this past decade was not significate, and a general dissatisfaction settled in, which was only aggravated after China failed to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
