: uma ameaça à democracia

Abstract

The present dissertation has as a purpose to study and caracterize the organized criminality, through an analysis of its behavior and a presentation of the main organs and mechanisms used to fight it. When we try to define, in the first instance, the concept of organized criminality, we can understand in which way it behaves among the society and in what way it destroys the security and the sovereignty of States. We intend to reach a multidimensional approach of the organized criminality, by defining a pattern of its main characteristics, the type of crimes, the ways how criminal groups organize themselves and the profile of its performers. With this study, as an objective, we have also the purpose to demonstrate the Portuguese reality concerning this topic, starting with its legal regime, passing through the demonstration of the behavior of this type of crime on the national territory as of the main national strategies related to the topic.
