Angola is a country that found peace thirteen years ago and during that period of time developed economically and socially through the oil exploitation. Also in that time, the media and the press became stronger, growing in circulation and variety. Nowadays, the economical and social situation has reversed and the country faces a particular hard conjuncture that crosses all sectors of economy, and the media is not an exception. In this context, and because communication studies are very rare, it is importante to analyse the perception of reality disseminated trough the press, specially in a country where the government is so often accused of violating human rights. Therefore, we’ll focus our study in 3 newspapers – Jornal de Angola, Expansão and O País – upon the concepts of framing, agenda-setting and gatekeeping, making an effort to deconstruct the perception of reality disseminated by the press.
