The present study sets out to understand whether land-based casinos and online casinos operate in a common industry. Nowadays, there are two types of "gambling houses", called casinos, which are authorized to offer the practice of games of chance. The older one is the land-based casino that features a physical space for such practice. On the other hand, online casinos offer a virtual space that allows the practice of remote gambling. Because both offer gambling services, through a case study, this work seeks to assess whether the different types of casinos operate in the same industry. The selected research method focuses on the case of Sociedade Figueira Praia, SA, which owns a land-based casino, Casino Figueira, and an online casino, Casino Portugal. In conclusion, the present study was able to conclude that land-based casinos and online casinos operate in different industries.
