The aim of this dissertation is to look at the issue of young girls as cultural consumers in the music industry and to explain how the discrediting of their role by the media and the general public is a manifestation of misogyny. To do this, we will use an analysis of the case of boy bands - more specifically, case studies of the phenomena that were the Beatles fandom during the 1960s and the One Direction fandom during the 2010s. This research includes fieldwork which consisted of interviews and focus groups with fans of these bands, with the aim of gaining an in-depth understanding of their perspectives and experiences.
