Abstract

This study continues the validation process of the Italian instrument The Double Moon (Greco, 2004) to the Portuguese context, started by Costa (2013) and Moreno (2013). The objectives were related to the assessment of the psychometric properties of construct validity through convergent validity and discriminant validity and clinical utility made with a sample of 20 participants, nine boys and 11 girls from divorced families aged from 6 to 16 years. For the assessment of the convergent validity, we used the Family Drawing Test of Corman (2003) and for the discriminant validity we applied the CBCL version of Achenbach (1991). The results point us to a reasonable convergence between the constructs of the Double Moon and the selected domains of Family Drawing Test in an amount equal to or greater than half the sample (10). In turn, the results of discriminant validity indicated that there is no relationship between the constructs. The Double Moon proved to be sensitive in the assessment of the constructs that it intends to evaluate, allowing a fine representation of the family boundaries and belongings, which translates utility in the Portuguese clinical setting when assessing boundaries, belongings and family conflicts.
