Abstract

The evolution of news technologies brought the growth and evolution of social media and new ways on how to communicate with others, changing communication paradigms. Consequently, some professions had to learn on how to adapt to this new method and system of communication, among them, journalists. Therefore, the present work aims to reflect on the role of journalists, more concretely, entertainment journalists and entertainment magazines, in the face of evolution of the Internet and with it the evolution of contemporary celebrities and, answer questions about how the media have adapted and adapt to these new celebrities and vice-versa.The goal was, through interviews and content analysis to news and Instagram posts, to find out it there is any linearity in the construction of news about influencers, taking into account their image in Instagram and if the so-called entertainment journalism is focusing more on these contemporary celebrities or if it will just be a phase of a news generation and time. With this dissertation, it was possible to realize that contemporary celebrities – the so called digital influencers – are mentioned in the news, simply, but not only, because they portray current affairs. This means that traditional celebrities will not be forgotten and that later on, there may be a dilution of these two terms. We could also note that the image and language of contemporary celebrities in Instagram, personality, projects and ideas are central to the journalistic content.
