Abstract

The acquisition of nursing specialist skills in medical-surgical nursing is based on the development of theoretical knowledge based on scientific evidence, mobilized andtransferred to practice in a reflexive and critical manner, which gradually allows to develop skills and adapt behaviors, thus building a new professional identity. This report demonstrates in a critical and reflexive manner, the course of development of specialized nursing skills in taking care of the critical patient and family, resulting from the accomplishment of the internship modules in the General Emergency Service and Local Coordinating Group - Prevention Program and Control of Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance, based on the accreditation obtained in the Intensive Care module, resulting from the skills acquired by the Professional experience. I tried to optimize my learning process outlining objectives and activities that allowed the acquisition of skills of nurse specialist, such as scientific, technical, ethical and relational skills in the care of the person and familyin a critical situation. Throughout the report, the central theme developed in this academic course is highlighted: Nursing in the Prevention and Control of Hospital Infection, which was based on the scientific evidence resulting from the accomplishment of an integrative review of the literature, which proved to be a very pertinent subject and very useful in the internship modules performed. Interventions to prevent and control hospital infections are of paramount importance in the clinical practice of health professionals, with emphasis on the nursing class, since they are the professionals who remain with the patient and family and are more likely to implement specialized interventions, with the purpose of improving the quality of care provided, translating into gains for the patient, institution and community. The internship modules were developed in different hospital institutions with the purpose of knowing a different reality of the hospital where I work, in order to increase my knowledge and diversity on the population that uses the health services as well as to analyze and reflecton the different care that is provided.
