The pharmaceutical industry is highly competitive, complex and dynamic, with various factors contributing to the success of companies in this ecosystem. The role of spirituality in the workplace has been studied from various perspectives, on the one hand in conjunction with rational, efficient and informed management, but also as a tool for competitiveness between organizations. Despite the significant discoveries that have been made, there is a gap in research regarding the influence of spirituality on strategic decision-making by CEOs in the pharmaceutical market. In addition, the process through which spirituality influences company leadership is still difficult to standardize. Therefore, this dissertation aims to answer the starting question “how does spirituality influences the strategic decisions of the CEO?”. To answer this question, a study was carried out based on the company Bial, relaying mainly on primary data, collected in a semi-structured interview. This dissertation concludes that spirituality has an influence on leadership and decision-making. However, it does not act as an exclusive agent in the evaluation of situations and subsequent action, and its influence is more significant in the human context of companies.
