Abstract
Any organization or institution communicates through Press Officers or Public Relations, in short, through External Communication.The European Commission (EC) is no exception. This institution has the largest
communication service with the media, being outshined only by the Presidency of the United States of America.
Therefore, this study aims to analyze the strategy of European Commission communication, a central institution in the European Union and with an essential
importance for all Member States.
Analyzing the capacity of the European Commission to be the “first definer” of the media in which it concerns, as well as how the Representation of European Commission in Portugal and the European Commission in Brussels communicate with the media and journalists and how this organizations is established as an information source, is what is intended with this master's dissertation.
