Abstract

“Family as a partner in care", is a report elaborated over the Master in Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialization, which intends to improve specific nursing skills in Medical-Surgical Nursing. Its purpose is to describe, in a reflective, questioning and methodological way, the activities and competences developed and acquired along the three stages, having adopted as a main theme the partnership of cares with the family, which is initially covered in this report, by the perspective of several authors and Nursing theories in which is highlighted the Meleis’ and Watson’s Theory. With the purpose of that it was used the descriptive, analytical and reflective approach, seeking additional knowledge in scientific databases, available information in databases and libraries of schools of nursing, trying to anchor the acquired knowledge in the current state of the art and transformation paradigm. From the stage in the Emergency Room I highlight, that after diagnosis of the situation, was proposed in-service training based on integrative literature review on the partnership family care, which I’m preparing an article for publication. This was aimed at raising awareness of nurses to partnership and realize that nursing interventions could be implemented seeking a higher quality of care. I developed skills founded in care, in teamwork management and team leadership. In the Option Module, I tried to develop the helping relationship with the person and the family in the context of home palliative care, taking into account the ethical and human considerations of care. I made a training and drafted a review article with recent studies on interventions in the prevention of caregiver burden. I worked with the team organization and management of resources and research possibilities involving me in the team development dynamics. I presented a communication in a scientific poster event on interventions that increase the sense of life in the elderly. Finally, in the Intensive Care stage, I tried to develop reflective skills and self - development through active research of the emerging areas of practice as well as seeking knowledge through participation in journeys. In order to share knowledge about prevention of surgical site infection conducted a training based on current literature and submitted an article for publication.
