This internship report is presented within the scope of the Master's Degree in Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Nursing for People in Critical Situations, from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and intends to explain the path taken during the internships in the Curricular Unit: Final Internship and Report. This journey included the first internship in the pre-hospital environment and the second in a Multipurpose Intensive Care Unit. The methodology used was descriptive and critical-reflective of the activities developed, the knowledge acquired and the entire process of developing skills using the respective foundation. Throughout the stages, the critically ill patient and his family were a constant concern. This concern resulted in activities that promoted continuous improvement in the quality of care and the development of professional learning, using the most recent scientific evidence to obtain new, current and relevant knowledge. In this context, in the pre-hospital stage, there was a need to carry out a literature review with the aim of knowing the opinion of nurses and family members about the presence of family members during the resuscitation of a critically ill patient. The results aimed to raise awareness. among nurses about this topic and reflect on international studies on family presence during cardiopulmonary resuscitation from the perspective of family members and nurses themselves. To raise awareness and sensitizethe nursing team in the multipurpose intensive care unit, a literature review was used to determine the benefit of family involvement in preventing delirium. It was found that family participation in delirium prevention activities had positive effects in reducing the prevalence of delirium. The critical reflective analysis throughout this work exposes how the skills were achieved in the different internship contexts through the general and specific objectives previously defined. Analyzes the path taken to develop and acquire new skills achieved in different care contexts. Finally, reflecting on my practice allowed me to develop skills for continuous improvement in the quality and resolution of practice problems with the main objective of providing excellent specialized nursing care, basing my practice on the most current scientific evidence.
