Abstract

This report refers to clinical stage of the masters course of a professional nature in Medical-Surgical Nursing 2008/2010, realized at Portuguese Catholic University, conducted in the Department of General Surgery and Accident and Emergency, at Montijo‟s Hospital. It contains the description and analysis of the various stages of the path taken in the fields of probation, to try to document learning achievements as well as the impacts of this training in providing care, training, management and research in order to demonstrate the development of skills required the nurse specialist. It is structured from the early planning stage of activities, starting by the description of the institution and selected services, followed by a description and analysis of professional experience credited under the legislation in force, and subsequently reported the process of developing skills worked in stages clinical studies. The research, reflections, analysis of critical incidents, the entire contents of the training undertaken, and key literature resources used, were organized in a portfolio of skills that we worked on digital media and that served to support the production of this report. Finally, we present the summary and conclusions of the work done, pointing progresses in terms of skills development and major contributions left in local places of training.
