Abstract

This work revolves around the political philosophy of Paul Ricoeur, having, as its main (principal) focus, the understanding of the concept of the political paradox. In Ricoeur’s view, it is necessary to think jointly, the rationality and the irrationality of the politician, for how much specific rationality, badly specific; such is the double and paradoxical originality of the politician. In this sense, political philosophy has a task of explaining this originality and elucidating its paradoxical character. It equally reflects on the function of the political power, its autonomy, and questions of great actuality such as those which concern the fragility of democracy and the rule of law, existing in the actual practice (praxis) as well as the eventual abuses of power. According to him, the actual bad state of the democracies, essentially, should be due to the fact that the sovereignty of the State if it turns, in its proper womb, insoluble, in virtue of the complexity of the spheres of belonging that governs the civil society. In this perspective, the politico-philosophical project of the French thinker, unfolds, fundamentally (basically) to illuminate the reflection on the political paradox and the problem of the power.
