Abstract

With the development of our current society, nurses are required to learn continuously and provide excellent care that encourages the need to adapt behaviors that promote greater safety for professionals and people cared for, corresponding to the needs identify allowing the creation of strategies that can, in a way, overcome the difficulties encountered. Is expected an update of new knowledge throughout the professional practice of each nurse aimed at responding to the main needs highlighted by the people being cared for. However this excellence is often called into question when it comes to critically reflecting on the practices adopted. This Report comes within the scope of the Curricular Unit - "Final Internship and Report" - of the Master's Degree Course in Nursing with Specialization in Medical Surgical Nursing, in the Specialization Area in Nursing for Persons in Critical Situation of the Science Institute of the Health of the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon and its main objective is the description and critical analysis of the entire teaching-learning process during the internship in the context of the Intensive Care Unit, which took place from September 6th to December 18th of 2021. Following the Internship carried out, this Report, which is based on a descriptive, analytical and critical-reflective methodology. The main goal in addition to being an element of evaluation of the Curricular Unit is to reflect the entire path of development and acquisition of competences. of the Specialist Nurse in Medical Surgical Nursing, in the Specialization Area in Nursing for Persons in Critical Situation. This process starts with an initial definition of specific objectives and activities to be developed and the result indicators related with each of them. After that I realize a critical-reflective analysis regarding the opportunities and lived experiences, based on scientific grounds, with a view to developing skills inherent in the practice of Specialist Nurses. As a related theme to my Internship Report and all the professional and training experience developed so far I made a scoping review protocol named "The importance of Interdisciplinary Training as a work object in the provision of Specialized Nursing Care for Persons in Critical Situation”. Interdisciplinary training seeks to contribute to a significant improvement in the quality of healthcare provided, particularly with regard to patient safety and satisfaction, as well as the efficiency of implemented nursing interventions, being understood as an essential method to identify and explain the specific needs of professionals and people cared for acting towards a common goal.
