Abstract

This paper is as the result of a theological reflection on Eschatological Foundation of Pauline Ethics based on 1Thess 4:13-5:11. In these reflections we highligt the parousia and all that it implies – death and ressurrection of Christ as Foundation and source of our faith and hope in the ressurrection of the deads – as the reason for his ethical exhortation to sobriety and vigilance of life for all members. However, these demands would be driven by the spiritual dimensions of man, faith, hope and charity, which are at the centre of Pauline Ethics. So that in the parousia all will be taken to meet the Lord and live forever with Him, Paul insists on the invitation of the faithful to sobriety and vigilance, differentiating the Christians, children of the light and of the day, from the non-Christians, those who allowed themselves to be influenced by the erroneous ideas of the philosophers and excessive moral deviations in the pagan and idolatrous cults.
