This reflective report on professional activity intends to discuss the importance of the post of department sub-coordinator as a facilitator of collaborative work, analyzing all the aspects that contribute to it, namely the heterogeneity of the teaching staff that groups under different education levels, salary levels, age levels, and their own individual and intrinsic interpretation of what the teaching learning process should be and the degree of contribution to its pursuit. Highlighting the role of the department sub-coordinator as a central element of intermediate management, who seeks to assume a leadership role among peers without an unambiguous hierarchy being evident, translating into a healthy environment of reflective and collaborative communication in a meeting of efforts to improve educational practices. Different experiences are described as department sub-coordinator in two schools with distinct and chronologically distant realities. In the course of this reflection, I also explored the collaborative work within the subject group that seeks to improve students’ academic success, through the verbalization of experiences among teachers, in order to fine-tune processes that facilitate the improvement of the teaching learning process.
