Abstract

The present study has as main objective to study the experience of pregnancy in man and woman after a follow-up of reproductive medicine service, the men and woman. This study developed on Hospital in the north of the country. With regard to women is intended to ascertain attitudes to pregnancy and parenting, and with regard to men, explore attitudes to pregnancy and parenthood. We also intend to check for symptoms anxious and / or depressive present in both genders. Finally, understand the adjustment dyadic with regarding to the consensus satisfaction and cohesion. For this exploratory study we used the 19 couples aged between 29 and 40 years in woman and in man between 26 to 45 years. The instruments used for data collection were, Attitudes Scale on Pregnancy And Parenting – EAGM (in women), the Scale of Attitudes About Pregnancy And Parenting – EAGP (in men), the Hospital Anxiety And Depression Scale – HADS and the Revised dyadic adjustment Scale – RDAS (for both members of the couple). The main results suggest that exist statistically significant differences between the participants of this study and the general population in relation of some subscales of attitudes about pregnancy and parenting (maternity and paternity) and regarding the other two scales, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and the Revised dyadic adjustment Scale show statistically significant differences between genders. In the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale it doesn´t exist in our sample of this study depressive symptoms, with the highest prevalence in anxiety symptoms in females. The results were corroborated with the literature review.
