Abstract

A Hora do Jacaré is an animated short film that combines 2D and 3D digital techniques. The narrative, based on the Angolan tale of “Jacaré Bangão”, deals with the theme of decolonization. It is a conflation of post-memories, fears, and dreams. This project report is a reflection on the creative process of the film, which took place within the scope of the Final Project Curricular Unit, for the conclusion of the Master in Sound and Image, with specialization in Computer Animation. For this purpose, we begin by clarifying the motivations and objectives that were at the origin of the project, following with a brief presentation of its content and a breakdown of the team. Next, we carry out a dissection of the approach and treatment of the subject. At this stage, the references that shaped the director's technical, aesthetic and stylistic choices are listed. Finally, the moments of Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production are thoroughly documented. The report closes with a critical analysis of the results, evoking the accumulated learning experiences and accounting for the constraints that limited production.
