The present study aimed to structure the skills profile and explore the professional identity of psychologists in the area of Work and Organizational. In Portugal, the intervention of the Work and Organizational psychologist is not clearly defined to society and sometimes is confused with other professionals (Guerra, 2007). Therefore, is necessary to define a professional identity (Benjamin & Louw-Potgieter, 2008). Through contact with different individuals was created the possibility to access their social representations, counting not only with participants directly related to this area of psychology but also with participants who contact this professional activity in their workplace. Document analysis was also performed including the guides of the masters of Higher Education in Portugal and some job listings for this area of psychology. Analyzing the data collected, was possible to conduct a competency profile of the Work and Organizational psychologist comprising areas such as workplaces, academic training required to perform professional activities, areas of intervention, prescribed work, real work, and, in particular, skills (both individual skills and technical skills). It was also possible to realize the conceptions that Work and Organizational psychologist‟s and different stakeholders have about this occupation. Psychologists in this area can coherently define their professional activity and their importance in the labor market, but claim that there is no clear definition on the same subject. The stakeholders, although contacting with this professional activity, still being confused with the regard to the same setting. The importance of the study is revealed particularly by these factors, so it was possible to understand this occupation in a better way.
