Abstract

Accounting has proven to be a complementary area to Management, as it can identify through various instruments whether the Company will progress or not. Based on an extensive literature review, the main objective will be answered – understanding the importance of Accounting for Management. In order to respond to the main objective, it will unfold into three specific objectives: to find out how Accounting helps Management, to find out how important Accounting is to the organization in question and to know how Accounting helps in decision making in the organization in question. This report is the result of a Professional Internship carried out at the Visabeira Group, in order to achieve the degree of Master in Applied Management from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa de Viseu. The same was developed in the area of Accounting, throughout the report the activities carried out during the internship are also described. The chosen data collection method, interviews, was the most relevant. The data collected was subject to a content analysis with the help of the MAXQDA software and was also presented in a summarized way, comparing the results with the concepts explained in the literature review. The main conclusion of this report is the fact that Accounting produces relevant financial information to help managers make decisions. Reports produced in accounting, such as balance sheets, income statements, cash flow maps, etc.; These are maps that reflect the company’s situation. Due to information technologies, decision makers can have access to information at the same time as it is introduced into programs, as is the case with SAP.
