This work corresponds to an academic dissertation developed as part of the Master's degree course in Educational Sciences, specializing in Social Pedagogy, presented to the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Portuguese Catholic University, to obtain a master's degree, entitled “The Socio-educational Inclusion of Children and Young People from Ethnic Minorities - the Contribution of Social Education”. From a theoretical point of view, this work is framed by Social Pedagogy, as a science of education that focuses on the study of lifelong learning issues, from a social solidarity perspective. Since school is one of the main spaces for socialization, where children and young people learn to interact and live together, it must be prepared to welcome and integrate them, considering their culture and history. We therefore wanted to find out what contribution Social Education makes to the socio-educational inclusion of children and young people from ethnic minorities in the school context. From a methodological point of view, and to carry out this research, a qualitative methodology was used, based on a close comparative study using documentary research and direct questioning of actors (social educators, psychologists, socio-cultural animators and social workers), through semi-structured interviews a. The study made it possible to understand the impact of the socio-educational interventions of the Social Educator, regarding the inclusion of ethnic minorities, suggesting the need for a greater link between school education and Social Pedagogy.
