Abstract

With the rapid acceleration of new technologies, the paradigm facing organisations today ishighly competitive, demanding and changing. Thus, organisations have to find new ways tomotivate and satisfy their people. This being said, internal communication can contribute toincreasing employee engagement through various actions aimed at involving and informing. This research seeks to analyse the role of internal communication in generating engagement among the employees of Altice Portugal through a mixed methodology based on a qualitative basis for exploratory data, through document analysis, direct and participant observation and exploratory interviews and, for primary data, a quantitative basis through a questionnaire survey. Through the analysis performed, this research confirmed according to the hypotheses under investigation that internal communication contributes, through various actions, to increase employee engagement. In this research several examples were given where many of the internal initiatives are disclosed, such as the My Altice intranet. In addition, it was also mentioned the communications that are sent to the employees from matters related with the company, business or customers and that contribute to the increase of the engagement of the employees with the organization.
