A influência das cartas terapêuticas na esperança dos pais de crianças com doença crónica

Abstract

Introduction: The diagnosis of a chronic disease in pediatric settings generates a large impact on the child and parents, changing family dynamics affecting the various levels where parental hope undergoes several oscillations. It is important for health professionals to support parents to find strategies that promote hope, using therapeutic tools at your range. Therapeutic letters are a therapeutic tool used by health professionals to, among other things, strengthen the therapeutic relationship. Given the scarcity of studies on the relationship of hope of parents of children with chronic disease and the use of therapeutic letters as a promoter strategy of hope, it became important to conduct this study to understand this relationship. Methods: The research is qualitative in nature. The population consisted of ten parents of children with chronic illness admitted to a pediatric service. The population sample is not probabilistic and intentional. Data collection included the sociodemographics, the data obtained in the focus group for the development of therapeutic letters and semi-structured interview. Results: Therapeutic letters influenced the hope of parents of children with chronic illness, promoting it and reinforcing it based on the sharing hope with health professionals, support and availability of the same, in recognition of parenting skills and strengthening personal strengths to recognize other adversities that exceeded. Conclusion: With this study it was concluded that the therapeutic letters are a promoter strategy and its operation and use by nurses in their practice of childcare with chronic illness and their families, as a therapeutic instrument for the enhancing of the therapeutic relationship and the promotion of parental hope.
