Introduction: The intervention of the Social Worker in the field of health requires specific knowledge, know-how and know-how, which is necessary when we intervene in the field of Palliative Care. One of the main objectives of the social worker's intervention is to know and understand the reality of the individual in order to act and be able to define a good intervention strategy to meet the multidimensional needs felt. In this sense, the social worker has an important role in the palliative care team and is recognized as a key and necessary element, focusing his intervention on the patient and the family. Objective: Mapping knowledge about the intervention of the social worker in palliative care, the aim is to identify the principles and methodology of the intervention of the social worker in palliative care. Methodology: A scoping review was developed and a literature search was conducted in PubMed, CINHAL, Scopus, Web of Science databases. The selection process by title and abstract and then by full text was performed by 2 independent reviewers. The quality of the articles was assessed. Results: From a total of 3250 articles, 38 were included in the review. The time limit of the studies selected in this scoping were published between 1979 and 2021, with 60.52% (23/38) of the articles published between 2010 and 2021 years. There are several countries of origin, most of which are foreign. All the documents included were published as journal articles (100%), and their study types were mostly qualitative and phenomenological in nature. Regarding the population, most studies analyze the role of the HCW with the patient and family in palliative care (n=23). Other articles address the intervention of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of care to the individual with palliative needs (n=13) and the bereavement process (n=2). Conclusion: The Social Worker assumes a preponderant role in Palliative Care, being indispensable his intervention, however, the study reveals that there is heterogeneity in the size of the samples of each study and scarcity in the Portuguese language articles.
