Abstract

Due to the technologic advances on the neonate medicine, the hypotheses of surviving of premature babies are increasing, as the gestation age becomes more precocious. Taking as premise the family as the main structure of our society, for the nurse caring on the Neonate Intensive Unit, becomes essential to focus the caring on the family. The caring focused on the family cause: a change from passive to active caring, expressing a holistic approach at caring; giving capacities and empowering; takes to a higher level, parents’ position on the Neonate Intensive Unit as health professionals partners, with the common objective of better caring. This report has as main objective to analyze the realized work for the theme: Massage as positive influence form, in the relation triad in the Intensive Neonate Unit that has been developed on context work, on the stage of Paediatrics and Child Health (Module III – Neonatology), realized in the Neonate Intensive Care Unit of Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte EPE/ Hospital de Santa Maria. The theme was selected by is importance in the way that the binding develop is the base of child mental health complex process. It has as objective to assure the continuous harmonious develop of the baby, promoting parental implication. The applied methodology was the reflexive descriptive reasoned on the scientific evidence, as well as practical experience. The implementation the program for infant massage was an important contribution for the better caring quality, because it became possible to the nurses of the unit, to get deeper knowledge’s on central caring development and family and applied them on the daily practice. It also allowed parents to use the massage as a way of knowledge and mutual interaction, favouring the binding.
