At the end of the 20th century, The Dombes Group reflected on the Virgin Mary evaluating the Catholic-Protestant convergences and possible reconciliation, given the existing controversy about Mary. We examined its conclusions, written in the document: “Mary in the plan of God and in the communion of Saints”, focusing on the theme: mediation of Mary. We describe the Group, its method and purpose - the conversion of hearts -, verifying the evolution of the Catholic feeling of "Mary mediator of grace" with the Protestant premises of grace and faith, certain that there is only "one Mediator who is Christ” (1Tim 2:5). We look at Mary's place in Salvation, asking about the meaning and validity of her cooperation. Finally, we confirm that the Second Vatican Council mitigates the Marian uproar in maternal mediation, seeing that Mary can be a bridge in Ecumenism. The debate is not closed, as many questions remain open; but we realize that “Mary is not, and cannot be, the cause of division among Christians”, it is important to “welcome the mother of Our Lord as disciples of Christ” (Jn 19:27).
