Abstract

With the preparation of this final report on Supervised Teaching Practice (STP), carried out within the scope of the Master’s Degree in Religious Sciences –specialization in Catholic Moral and Religious Education (CMRE), we set out to achieve two main objectives: to make a critical reflection on STP and to understand the meaning of Christmas as a Christian tradition, as the practice of giving and receiving presents and as a social festivity, introducing music into teaching practice from a perspective of inclusion and facilitating learning. The study begins with an explanation of the experience gained in STP, implemented in an intermediate school of 2nd and 3rd level (EB 2,3 Prof. Pedro D'Orey da Cunha). Presenting a brief analysis of the same, supported by the plans, strategies and pedagogical materials chosen for the teaching of Unit 2: Advent and Christmas, of the 5th school year.Understanding that Christmas assumes the dimension of gift and exchange, in the sense of an interpersonal relationship, without neglecting the social dimension, namely the domestic festive context and intra-family relationships. Music is introduced into teaching practice from a perspective of inclusion in order to promote interest, motivation and facilitate learning. This Report is presented as a tool for the study and evaluation of pedagogical practice, assuming itself as a learning instrument, insofar as it promotes an activity proposal that encompasses the approach to Christmas in the discipline of CMRE, through music, specifically by the Alentejo folksong called “Cante Alentejano”. Thus enabling students to recognize the Christian narrative of Christmas and Alentejo's popular traditions.
