Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound and far-reaching impact on numerous spheres of society and the global economy. This study explores the effects of the pandemic on large-scale distribution workers. The research analyzes the working conditions, experiences, and challenges faced by these professionals during the period of the pandemic, highlighting aspects of job precarity and the responses of companies in the sector. This study highlights the multifaceted nature of the pandemic's impacts on large-scale distribution workers, including issues related to health and safety, as well as job stability. It also investigates how companies have adapted to this challenging environment by implementing new measures. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation is to understand what is impact the pandemic has had on workers in the large retail sector. Based on the research objectives, we used two different approaches in this work, one quantitative through a survey and the other qualitative through interviews. The results obtained were similar in both approaches since their analysis allows us to affirm that the pandemic has increased job precarity, especially in large-scale distribution. As a result of the pandemic, workers have been exposed to a greater workload, shift changes, longer working hours, low wages, and higher levels of stress and anxiety.
