Abstract

This study aimed to understand the differences between the generations that take part in today’s working world. There are four main generations that play a role within organizations (Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z). Provided that the aim was to comprehend the most meaningful ones and to understand the differences that Generation Z may upbring, Baby Boomers were excluded from the start. Provided that each generation possesses its own characteristics, one should expect that the results show what each generation (X, Y or Z) values most. Through a sample constituted by 181 individuals, three groups were defined, namely Generation (N = 111), Y (N = 33) and Z (N = 30). Even though seven members belonged to the Baby Boomer Generation, they were not considered for the reasons mentioned earlier. A questionnaire that englobed three scales was made (Perceived Organizational Support, Work-Family Conflict Scale and Work Satisfaction) and the data processed via IBM SPSS Statistics (V. 27). The results presented statistically significant differences in some items of the scales, as well as allowed to comprehend the importance of Perceived Organizational Support, Work- Life Balance and Job Satisfaction to each generation. The relation between each variable was also studied and the impact that Human Capital has within an organization comprehended.
