: estudo de caso múltiplo

Student thesis: Master's Thesis

Abstract

The present study on the usefulness of the educational project in primary schools in Luanda (Angola) in the view of school administrators falls within the scope of the School Administration and Management course presented to the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University. The study was developed in two schools (2) of religious profession. In this study, the qualitative research approach was adopted, where the main sources of information were the interviews directed to the principals and some teachers with experiences in the area of School Management, besides applying the questionnaire surveys to the teachers. In this study, one looks at the School Educational Project as a Management tool that defines the identity of the school, because it is a memorial, a guide for school life orientation. It is a document that can be strongly and easily articulated with other institutional documents of the school, since these are embodied in that one. The result of the bibliographic research associates the educational project with the school autonomy. However, it is not a matter of autonomy enacted, because the Angolan school legislation does not refer to a contract of autonomy for schools of general education. But a social autonomy understood, according to Barroso (1996a, 1996b), as the balance between political power in the country, power of directors, teachers and power of caregivers. The educational project is also associated with school effectiveness, since the ultimate goal of it is the improvement of school results, that is, the quality of teaching. However, talking about quality of teaching has become the central issue in the school world, as much is questioned about the school's ability to respond to the needs of the 21st century. Therefore, we begin by approaching the mission of the school as an educational organization. And as the mission of a school is materialized in its educational project, we focus on the levels of achievement of the same project. Subsequently, the empirical study was presented, which concludes that the school education project is designed for a participatory management style. To be so, its approach must be done beyond the documentary question, that is, one must look at the project not only as a product, but also as a process, because it requires constant updating. Therefore, the educational project is extra value for the school.
