Abstract

The pilgrimage of the Church is primarily a spiritual journey of gradual sanctification. The life of the Church flows from the love of God, is moved in Him and is directed towards Him; it is a life of love. Thus, this dissertation will focus on the spirituality of the Church as a community on pilgrimage on earth towards the heavenly Jerusalem. The Church lives, then, aspiring to holiness, the goal of her pilgrimage. The spirituality of the Church is a life guided to this end: the glory of God and the sanctification of man. The dissertation will present that: 1) the Lord shows his ways to man for hisgood; 2) once set on the way, the man must follow the Lord with fidelity and perseverance, vigilance and struggle, a translation of what is meant by listening, which is always required of the one who is summoned; 3) the whole pilgrimage of the Church is, in short, to magnify the Lord and to sanctify herself.
