The report, created by having a reflexive and descriptive methodology of the developed activities, it has the purpose of enhance the development process of acquired skills throughout the final internship course unit of the fourteenth Master’s Degree Course in Nursing, with specialization in the field of Nursing a person in a critical condition form Porto’s Nursing School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Structurally, the report is organized, besides the introduction, conclusion and bibliographical references, in a chapter denominated by the journey of the nurse practitioner to a specialised nurse, where is contextualized the carried-out internship in the first year and the way it has contributed for the development of specific skills of the most significant apprenticeships accomplished between that period of time. Afterwards it is presented a chapter entitled the development of the specific skills of the Specialised Nurse in MedicalSurgical Nursing, which is divided in subchapters according to the fields of expertise to the nursing area of Nursing a person in a critical condition. The internship has developed in two different contexts, the first one in a Multipurpose Intensive Care Unit and the other one in a Coronary Intensive Care Unit. The most significant developed activities which aimed for a response to the previous outlined aims, whose framework had been organised within the specific competences of the Nurse Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing, were examined in reflective analysis detail and on evidencebased scientific grounds, explaining in which way these contributed for the consolidation of the Master in Nursing in the field of Nursing a person in a critical condition. The concern for the transitional care improvement was transversal to the skills development, so it lead to a literature article review entitled “The use of communication tools and the transitional care in the emergency services”, giving follow-up to an academic essay developed in the first year internship of the Master’s Degree, for the valuable input disposed to be integrated in Intensive care services. The performance of a nursing care world-class has guided the developed activities, being also the purpose which underlined/stated the contribution carried in the Multipurpose Intensive Care Unit as a form of Working Educational Proposal – Enteric Nutrition of a person in a critical condition and in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit as a form of Continue Improvement of the Nursing Care Quality Project referred to good practice recommendations in the preservation of the peripheral vascular accesses. These proposals are integrated in the skills development transversal process which occurred during this period, enhanced by the distinctive trials provided by these two contexts. The accomplishment of this report culminates in all the journey developed throughout the Master’s Degree, leads to ability and knowledge of performing a reflective practice to the know-how developed throughout the training process, consolidating previous resources ate the same time that was considered the acquisition of distinctive skills, bearing in mind the assuming in full of the role of Nurse Specialist and Medical-Surgical Nursing Master, in the field of a person in a critical condition in the healthcare institutions
