: o foco do cuidado em enfermagem

Abstract

The aim of this report is to develop the entire process of learning and developing competences, with a view to obtaining the title of master and specialist in the care of people in critical situations. It focuses mainly on the final internship carried out during the ‘Final Internship and Report’ Curricular Unit of the 2nd year of the 17th Master's Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the area of Nursing for the Critically Ill Person, at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa - School of Nursing-Porto. The introduction provides an initial framework, describing the objectives of this report, as well as a brief presentation of the selected internship contexts, methodology and structure of the report. The development, made up of four chapters, first briefly and dynamically addresses the fields of the Final Internship, followed by evidence of the development of the common and specific competences of the nurse specialising in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of the Critically Ill Person. All the chapters present reflections on the experiences of this journey, accompanied by the respective theoretical foundations. Through bibliographic research in these contexts, work was carried out that contributed to the development of competences, namely a literature review called ‘Delirium - Implications for people under invasive ventilation in an Intensive Care Unit’ carried out in the first context and a literature review on ‘The importance of communication between nurses and the family in the context of critical situations in the Emergency Department’ carried out in the second context. Also in the first context was a review of concepts on ‘The Critically Ill Person - Nursing Interventions in Oral Mucositis’. This report was based on bibliographical research and a critical-reflective analysis of the opportunities experienced throughout the learning process, with a view to obtaining a master's degree and specialising in this area.
