The idea of autonomous vehicles once belonged to a distant future. Even though we may not see such forms of transportation our roads today, they are no longer a mere creation of science fiction. The advent of autonomous vehicles poses new challenges such as those concerning civil liability. The implications of this achievement in transportation technology will have to be studied if road safety is to be ensured. This work focuses on the legal repercussions that may arise from accidents involving autonomous vehicles, in particular the issue of civil liability and study if Law is prepared to face this “brave new world”.
