The objective of the following research is to verify the communication flow within the Information Society, in corporate crises. It is an interpretivist approach that aims at analyzing the actual moment: the network of networks, the Internet and the creation, production and release of “information” as a cause for corporate crises. This study uses a theoretical corpus we trust, meaningful to the understanding of the connections between the new information and communication technologies and the crisis in the corporate world. We refer some theories on information and communication, namely the essay The Mathematical Theory of Communication, Palo Alto School and the cybernetics approach to communication. It is also mentioned the studies of information and society of Gianni Vattimo and Jean Baudrillard. We refer to several researches on management and communication crises, trying to demonstrate the connections with new information and communication technologies. The analysis of these connections is preceded by two interviews; one with the crisis management consultant Joaquim Martins Lampreia and the other with Rogério Santos, professor of Communication Sciences at Catholic University of Portugal. In the following analysis, we propose understandings and found on the theories presented and on the research developed and presented in the current dissertation, trying to answer the original question of the study: do the new information and communication technologies enhance or diminish the corporate crisis?
