This dissertation focus on pedagogical supervision and aims to analyse the perceptions of evaluators and teachers evaluated in what concerns supervisory acts , the concepts on which they are based and to what extent they can contribute to the (re)construction of the teachers‟ professional identity. Within a theoretical sustained referential, this study aims to observe, analyse and interpret the way individuals face the supervisory acts, the difficulties felt by supervisors and furthermore to perceive how this process contributes to the construction of teachers‟ professional identity by interrelating supervision and professional development. Considering the present study as a whole, the methodology used fits the context of an interpretative and qualitative investigation and the data were obtained through semi- structured interview, diaries and questionnaires. The information gathered was submitted to the analysis of the context provided by the data collection instruments mentioned above. The results obtained show that the individuals are clearly aware of the potentialities of pedagogical supervision and whenever possible they try to implement them assuming the supervisory acts on a basis of reflection and formative action. On the other hand , teachers who know the process, give it no credit and only a few of them open the door of the classroom, their “island”, and although denying it, still demonstrate a negative behaviour towards their peers‟ observation. In what concerns the consequences we may conclude that the system makes the implementation and complete acceptance of pedagogical supervision difficult. Individuals theoretically confirm that supervision allows the (re)construction of their professional image although in practice this function has no significant expression.
