Abstract

Nursing progress notes at various levels, which makes it imperative to recognize the significantvalue of the nurse role. The Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing is aimed at developingskills for advanced nursing care to adult and elderly patient in critical condition, revealing agreater ownership on the part of specialist nurses with a concept of care based on scientificconceptualization of care, there inferred the contribution of best practice in health care.The course includes a theoretical part and a stage, which incorporates 3 modules. Theinternship in the Department of Medical Intensive Care in Hospital Pedro Hispano, E.P.E.corresponds to Module II – Intensive Care Unit, took place from 20 April to 20 June 2009. Thestage at INEM – Prehospital Care corresponds to Module III – Optional, ran from 6 October to29 November 2009, and included experiences in various aspects of INEM. My experience isdeveloped from the 1 of August of 2004, in the approach and treatment of the patienturgent/emergent, in the context of the Emergency Service/OBS. For the experience gained inthese years, by education and training activity and by develop as a trainer, was credited thestage Module I – Emergency Service. This accreditation recognizes the relevance of my skills development at the level of know-know, know-how, know-being and know-being.This report is part of the route for obtaining Master´s Degree in Nursing, in the Specialty ofMedical-Surgical Nursing. The methodology used was descriptive, in order to demonstrate skillsin identifying issues/health problems and developing innovative and effective responses,demonstrating the capacity for reflection of the practice, carried out by scientific evidence basedprocesses, for framing the context of health care, with an approach that emphasis theexperienced reality. The report was structured in 3 parts. The introduction present an overallcontext of the more relevant issues. A chapter of the route during the stage, where I emphasizethe consolidation of knowledge and skills developed. The conclusion reflects my attention both on a personal level and on a look at the profession.In this evolving path to a growing practice based in nursing theory and incorporating the models on display models in use, to an "Advanced Nursing", with more powers for the performance centered on a conceptual logic, with the core diagnosis and assistance in the face of human responses and more powers of decision making. The course and stage allow me to conclude that the nurse can play an important role in promoting research in the evolution of knowledge and motivation to improve the quality of care among other peers, are nurses, doctors or otherprofessionals.
